Weekly market: Piegut Pluviers

Held every Wednesday throughout the year; from local produce to arts and crafts; cakes and pastries, flowers and vegetables to live chickens!  A large market in such a small town, with plenty to see and buy; the local shops and restaurants are also open.  Good atmosphere.

Weekly market: Brantome

Held every Friday throughout the year; from local produce to arts and crafts; cakes and pastries, flowers and vegetables to oysters and truffles!  Talk to the stand holders they love to give you samples of their produce ~ especially sausages and cheeses; they are happy that you are interested. Brantome is known as France’s “Little Venice” because the river splits around the town; it is a truly beautiful place, stay and have lunch after the market closes then look round the little independent shops ~ you can even hire a canoe to paddle round the town.

Limoges monthly antique / flea market

Held on the second Sunday of every month (except July) in the Cathedral quarter of Limoges.  A very good flea market, lots to look at even if you don’t buy; then have lunch or coffee in the square, watching everyone else still haggling before buying.  Considering the market is in the city it is still affordable, and has not yet been spoilt with children clothes and plastic toys.
